So I decided to seek out the Kobold commander to see what the map problem looks like, and I noticed something else.
I can just walk through all the rooms without killing the creatures in them. This probably shouldn't happen. My suggestion is that if you try to move to an exit other than the one through which you entered the room, the creature would automatically attack, as though the action of moving past it were equivalent to attacking it. This would prevent me from, say, killing only the Kobold commander but leaving all the other beasties alive.
I do like, though, that a creature doesn't attack you unless you've attacked it. Gives you time to cast spells, get a cup of coffee, etc, without worrying that your character will have died in the interim. :)

That is a good idea about creatures attacking if you walk by, although I will have to look into the issue of creatures not attacking you when standing around. A simulated dice roll is supposed to determine whether or not they attack you right off instead of sitting there.

In along those lines, when you cast non-combat spells, the mobs don't attack. It allows one to buff up completely with Minor Heal, then start attacking again. -p

You're right, Progenitor. Now that you mention it, it does seem odd you can cast as many non-combat spells as you want without the mob ever acting. I kind of enjoy it, but it's probably too easy that way.
Calbert, I think the dice roll may actually be determining whether or not your target automatically sets to the mob. Most often I walk into a room and the target is automatically set to the creature, but sometimes it doesn't. Especially in the first few rooms of the Keep's basement--I got used to manually targeting the rats.
Also, if I walk into a room and don't automatically target the creature, my health and willpower will recharge as though the room were empty!

I may need to look at that, I may need some checks to cause a re-roll if you sit there long enough. I will investigate it a little more to see what happened to my auto attack code. :)
