Self-targeting Options

Hi, everybody. :)

Heal spells automatically target the caster--even if I'm fighting something, heal will restore my hit points instead of its hp. But when I use a shield spell mid-combat, I have to switch targets to myself, cast the spell, then switch back.

Doing this repeatedly has me wishing there was a target icon up next to my character's health/willpower bars that would allow me to self-target without bringing up the character sheet every time.

Is there a keystroke for this?

You shouldn't need to cast a shield or protective spell more than once during a battle, it should last about 5 minutes, however, there is an issue with the shield spells that should be fixed with 1.0.6.

I will also keep the keystroke in mind while working on the keyboard shortcuts for other commands.

Ah, thank you. I was wondering about that! I was never sure when my spell was in effect or not--I figured since I was casting it at below the ideal skill level it might have a shorter duration instead of fizzling or some such thing. Is there (or can there be) a message when a defensive spell wears off, like "Your spell ----- is no longer in effect"?

Yeah, now that it actually works, or will be working with 1.0.6, you will see a message when it fades. You will also see an icon of the spell under your stat bars.
