How and when do you train skills other than initial character creation?

As you level up and use weapons you will gain skill in certain areas. So if you use a sword for a while, you will see that your skill level for that will increase.

Some skills cant be gained yet as they haven't been implemented into the game.

Ingame press "C" and your character sheet will come up which will show you which skill you have and don't have trained.

Is there a way to get a skill above 0? It would seem the best choice would be to set everything ( or as many things as possible ) during character creation to 1 so you have the opportunity to grow it later.

There are plans to add skill advancement from within game from trainers and/or specialized items. I would like to get all skills valid for play first.
